In this series, our Art Advice team help you on the way to creating beautiful interiors with focussed art advice for different areas of the home. Let’s talk about how you can create inspiring spaces for the smallest members of the family by hanging kids wall art.

Get them involved

When hanging wall art in a kid’s room, you want to focus on making a space that grows with the child, there are a few ways you can do this. Involving the child in decisions is a great way to get them invested in their space. Perhaps you want to include some of their favourite animals, hobbies or colours?

Five ways to decorate a kid’s room

You want to focus on making a space that is playful, warm and creative and includes plenty of variation. Here are some ideas:

- The playful gallery wall. Hang asymmetric art in a variety of sizes to create a relaxed, creative feel.

- Designs that inspire creativity. Animals, fruit, colourful forms and illustrations inspire joy and curiosity, add coloured frames for a vibrant feel.

- Mix up art with the day-to-day. Combine wall art with favourite books, toys and stuffed animals on picture shelves to create a playful and varied look.

- Use cork boards to display prints. Mix smaller prints with drawings and cards on a cork board to create a lived-in and creative mood – a great way to stimulate the child’s own creativity.

- Do it yourself. Paint frames or passepartouts and get the child involved when choosing designs to create a room they will adore.

Involving your child in selecting art for in their space is key to creating something you both will love. Choosing the designs together is a fun, creative task too, and will make it all the more meaningful when hung.
